Mike Campbell
Brief History:
I’m a multidisciplinary visual artist and designer with a career rooted in visual communication, brand strategy, and purposeful storytelling.
I graduated with honors from the University of Kansas with a BFA in Visual Communications and began my career in Dallas as a graphic designer working with Stan Richards and Jim Jacobs. In 1982, I co-founded Campbell Fisher Design, a full-service brand strategy, marketing, and design firm. For nearly three decades, the studio built meaningful, results-driven work while fostering a collaborative, mentorship-based culture. From 2010 to 2025, I led Visual Intent, a boutique design and brand-centric consulting firm focused on clarity, intention, and impact.
My work has been recognized with a Gold Medal from the New York Art Directors Club, inclusion in the Library of Congress, and features in AIGA, Graphis, and Communication Arts. I have also received multiple Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards for design work promoting healthy living and anti-smoking initiatives.
Community engagement and philanthropy have been integral to my practice. I’ve contributed work and special projects for organizations including The Blind Foundation, Suns Charities, Southwest Autism Research Center, Homebase Youth Services, NoObesity through SlimGenics, and art programs supporting grade-school children.
Relationships have always been at the center of my work. I’ve had the good fortune to collaborate with many remarkable people who became lifelong friends and creative partners. I’m especially proud of the many employees—often hired straight out of college—who went on to build successful businesses of their own, carrying forward the values my partner Greg and I emphasized while leading the firm.
What’s Next?
In 2026, I shifted my focus to studio-based practice, pursuing art driven by personal curiosity and intention. My current work spans private and commercial sales, public grants, commissions, and community-based projects—continuing a lifelong commitment to visual work that connects, communicates, and endures.
